Holiday Lights

"Land of Enchantment" takes on special significance during the holidays, when Albuquerque becomes immersed in a dazzling landscape of lights. Our brokers and their families love to spend quality time together at these incredible light displays near Albuquerque homes for sale.

  • Old Town Holiday Stroll - Plaza Don Luis, 303 Romero St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104
Greet December in style at the Old Town Holiday Stroll. Get a head start on gift shopping with great specials at stores around Historic Old Town, while local musicians fill the streets with music as you go. Head over to Plaza Don Luis at 6 p.m. for the lighting ceremony, then enjoy more live entertainment at the Gazebo. Of course, it wouldn't be the holiday season without hot chocolate. The pet-friendly event is scheduled for Friday, December 1 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Hanging of the Greens - University of New Mexico Bookstore, 2301 Central Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106
Farolitos, the small paper lanterns that are part of Hispanic culture, take center stage at Hanging of the Greens. During UNM's oldest student tradition, 13,000 farolitos turn the campus into a breathtaking vision of light. The main event begins at the UNM Bookstore, where a group of caroling students will start their procession to University House. After the presentation of a wreath to the UNM president, the evening concludes with a reception at Hodgin Hall that is open to the public. Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped children's book to be donated to the UNM Children's Hospital. Hanging of the Greens takes place on between 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, December 1.

  • Twinkle Light Parade - Nob Hill, Albuquerque, NM 87106
Who can resist the charms of a holiday parade? The Twinkle Light Parade travels a one-mile stretch of Nob Hill's Central Avenue, which is part of iconic Route 66. Participants include local businesses, organizations, and school groups, all hoping to be named Best in Show. Before the parade, Central Avenue will be closed to traffic starting at 3 p.m. to allow people to shop and dine. The parade kicks off at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.

  • Winter Wonderland - Inside EXPO, 300 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108
Take in the spectacle of lights at Winter Wonderland from the comfort of your car. If you're ready for more after the 20-minute drive, which includes Christmas Tree Lane in the Electric Forest, take the walk-through tour in Villa Hispana. Disney princesses and other live performers are on hand, along with hot cocoa and food, local vendors, and photo ops with Santa Claus. Dogs are welcome for the drive-through portion. Winter Wonderland is open from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday with extended hours until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Watch the website for the announcement of opening day in November.
