Spring is in the air here in the Albuquerque area, and it's one of our real estate agents' favorite seasons to spend time outside. There's just something about the high desert climate that makes you want to lace up your running shoes as soon as spring arrives. 

Luckily, with these upcoming 5ks and marathons in the Albuquerque area, there are plenty of opportunities to do just that. Participating in these Albuquerque races is not only a great way to stay fit and active but also to explore the city and see more of the spectacular landscape that surrounds it. 

• WisePies Pizza Run - 5700 University Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106
  Once again this year, WisePies Pizza has teamed up with Make-A-Wish New Mexico to help raise money for kids battling critical illness across the state. You can help out by participating in the 4th annual WisePies Pizza Run on Sunday, May 19. The event starts and ends at the Aperture Center at Mesa del Sol, just south of UNM's main campus, and includes multiple ways to participate. You can take part in the 1-mile fun run/walk, run the 5k through Mesa Del Sol, or take the more challenging 10k route.
  
  
• Lilly Barrack ABQ Ladies Night Run - 5500 Alameda Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113
  The 2024 Lilly Barrack ABQ Ladies Night Run is coming up on May 11, and this race features an 8k run as well as a 5k run/walk. The course is designed to be accessible to participants of all ages and abilities, taking you through Albuquerque's beautiful International Balloon Fiesta Park, where you can enjoy some great views of the Sandia Mountains. Be sure to stick around for the ABQ Ladies Night After Party following the race!
  
  
• Albuquerque Half Marathon - 6440 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120
  Always a hotly anticipated annual event, the Albuquerque Half Marathon returns on April 6 this year. Be sure to arrive early for the half marathon at 8:30 am, followed by the 10k at 9:15, 5k at 9:30, and 'Kids K' at 10:15. The half marathon begins on Winter Haven Road, not far from several Albuquerque homes for sale. Parking is available at the church and across the river at Alvarado Elementary School, and shuttles are available to take participants back and forth.
  
  
• Chocolate and Coffee Run - 1101 Park Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102
  All runners and walkers are invited to the 2024 Chocolate and Coffee Run 5k on Saturday, March 24. It's part of the Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Fest, and participants will get a complimentary general admission pass to the festival. The starting line for the 5k is located at Washington Middle School, right next to Bennie Hargrove Park, and the race follows an out-and-back course through Downtown Albuquerque. Java Joe's will provide free coffee, chocolate, and chocolate donuts for all. 
  
  
• King of the Hill 2024 - NM-6, Los Lunas, NM 87031
  Taking place in the rugged and beautiful landscape of the El Cerro de Los Lunas Preserve just south of Albuquerque, King of the Hill 2024 is arguably the most challenging race in the area, but also the one with the most amazing scenery. King of the Hill includes a 5k, 10k, and half marathon, and the start and endpoint for each is at the El Cerro de Los Lunas Trailhead on Main Street, a little over 4 miles west of downtown Los Lunas.
